'Beauty and the Beast' Review - Does Live Action Really Bring the Tale to Life?

On the podcast this week Screen Verdict is excited to review the live action remake of Disney's classic Beauty and the Beast.

Before we get started Matt and Jonathan share their first cinema experiences, rank our top animated Disney films, and share our expectations.

Getting into the film we break down the 'controversy' surrounding LeFou and unsuccessfully try to work out exactly is the Beast. Matt also explains why he prefers a Plain Jane princess and Jonathan struggles to comprehend Emma Watson being described as a Plan Jane.

Lastly we provide our Screen Verdict rating for the film and play us out with a clip from the Beauty and the Beast audio book!

This week on the podcast Screen Verdict welcomes our good friend Tom O'Neil from goldderby.com to break down the upsets and drama at this year's Academy Awards.

Seeing as no one picked the Best Picture winner we debate who almost came closest to picking the winner. Jonathan also defends going 0/2 with his two podcast prediction 'locks'.

Also, in podcast drama for the week Matt walks us through getting kicked out of a screening of Manchester by the Sea. We also reveal the fate of Matt's garlic bread which was left in the oven during the podcast.

'La La Land' Review - Our Magical Musical Musings

It's Oscar season and this week Screen Verdict enlists the help of Jonathan's fiancee Bonnie in order to review the Best Picture front runner - La La Land.

With Jonathan's fandom for Ryan Gosling we get sidetracked naming our top 3 actors before we discuss the best approach for Matt scoring a date with Emma Stone.

On the podcast Screen Verdict comes up with a game we want you to play at home involving starting a La La Land flash dance on the highway.

Along the way we compare Ryan Gosling's character to Miles Teller's character in Whiplash, Bonnie relates to Emma Stone's actress life in LA, and choose our favourite LA locations from the film.

2016 Emmy Awards Recap

This year Screen Verdict decided to mix it up by doing an Emmys review instead of a preview.

We break down the winners and losers in all the major categories and see how they compared to Screen Verdict's hopes and expectations.

Jonathan also compares Candice Bergen to Mark Taylor, Matt creates the new rating system of sizzle or fizzle, and we pinpoint the moment you know your childhood is over. Lastly Matt provides proof of his friendship with Tony Hale or at the very least does a very good Tony Hale impressions.

'Suicide Squad' Review - Supervillains Make for Super Entertainment or Super Let Down?

MTV Video Music Awards Preview 2016

Each year Screen Verdict gets excited to discuss the MTV Video Music Awards as it always ends up being one up one of our favourite podcasts of all time OF ALL TIME!

Matt and Jonathan review each video nominated for Best Music Video of the Year and give it a score out of 5 for a combined score out of 10. The highest scoring video gets the Screen Verdict vote (which could be the winning vote at the VMAs).

This is also an interactive podcast as you can pause the podcast and watch each music video (which we can do in an instant through the use of podcast magic) and then come back to the podcast to hear our reviews.
